You Did Everything Right, and It Still Doesn’t Feel the Way You Thought It Would
High-Functioning Burnout: When You’re Still Achieving but Running on Fumes and Lattes
You’re up early to hit the gym before work.
You put in a ten- or twelve-hour day, and you’re still answering emails at eleven at night.
And the 2 PM latte is what’s getting you through.
Your inbox pings, and your body is already in fight-or-flight mode. Shoulders at your ears, chest tight, and you think, “oh my god, what do you want now?”
You’re still getting everything done (probably because you’re the most reliable person in the room). And the list keeps growing. It looks like reliability. Inside, you’re one more request away from bursting into tears.
You built a career most people would dream of.
On paper, you’re successful, polished, and put together.
Inside, you feel exhausted, empty, and disconnected.
You’re probably the woman who:Got the degree, the promotion, and checked every box
Still gets hit with the Sunday scaries anyway
Can’t remember the last time something lit you up
Keeps asking yourself why you’re not happy when you did everything right
Wonders whether you’re losing the drive that got you here, or whether you’re even allowed to want something different
Sound familiar?
It’s what happens when you did everything right, and you’re still running on fumes.

Why Traditional Burnout Therapy Falls Short for Ambitious Women
Most advice says:
Stop saying yes to everything
Take things off your plate
Let it be less than perfect
At EleVolve, that’s not the approach we take.
EleVolve was built for high-achieving women, and burnout is what we see most.
The EleVolve℠ Difference: Why Our Burnout Therapy Works for Ambitious Women
Burnout Therapy When It’s Perfectionism and People-Pleasing
Some of it is in how you see it. What we are afraid it means when you say no. What you believe about your worth when you’re not producing. We work on that together, and it never means doing less.
Burnout Therapy When It’s Where You Work
Sometimes the job asks for more than any one person can give. We can’t change every system, but we can change how you function inside it and what you decide to do about it.
Whether you’re in Stamford, across Fairfield County, or anywhere in CT, NY, NJ, MA, or FL by Telehealth, support meets you where you are.

About EleVolve
LICENSED THERAPISTS. BUILT FOR HIGH-ACHIEVING WOMEN.EleVolve is a specialized practice for ambitious women navigating anxiety, burnout, and the pressure of high-performance living. Our clinicians bring years of combined experience in evidence-based therapy, including CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and somatic approaches, alongside genuine intuitive insight into the unique challenges high-achieving women face.
We designed EleVolve because we kept seeing the same pattern: brilliant, capable women abandoning their own needs while trying to prove their value. This practice exists to change that.
EleVolve serves women virtually across NY, NJ, CT, MA, and FL, and in-person at our Stamford, CT office.
“I say this often in sessions, but I say that my teenage self would be really proud of where I am today. She never would've imagined walking and talking herself through a panic attack.”

How Burnout Therapy Works at EleVolve
The First Session
We’ll start by getting a full picture of what’s been going on, how long it’s been showing up, and how it’s been impacting your life. We’ll ask you lots of questions so we can paint a clear picture. Then we’ll set goals together and lay out a plan.
How We Approach Burnout Therapy
You wouldn’t wear one-size-fits-all shoes, and we don’t take that approach here. We draw on a variety of tools and curate them personally for you, tailoring what works for high achievers. We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to change the beliefs underneath how you respond to a broken system and the weight you give it, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to speak up, say no, practice mindfulness, and ask for what you need. Somatic work takes care of the stress and how it’s showing up in your body.
Burnout Therapy for Professional Women in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Florida

Billable hours, the partner track, and clients who email at eleven at night and expect an answer by morning.
At EleVolve, we work on the part nobody at the firm sees: the nervous system that never gets to settle, the yes that comes before you’ve checked your own calendar, and the sense that one missed detail could undo everything.
So you can stay sharp at work, stop carrying it into every hour away from your desk, and give the best of you to your own life, not what’s left after the billables.
-
An early start, a market that doesn’t wait, and a job that means thinking ten steps ahead for everyone else.
At EleVolve, we look at what that pace is costing you, from the missed sleep that never seems to reset, to the days you haven’t moved from your desk, to the client dinners where you still have to be on, and we integrate ways to build balance without giving up what you need to do at work.
So you can keep your edge, get your evenings back, and enjoy what you’ve earned instead of being too depleted to feel it.
-
Charting long after the last patient, inside a health care system that isn’t built for healing anymore.
At EleVolve, we help you make room for what you leave at work and what you take home with you: the patients you keep thinking about, the worry that you couldn’t give it your all and help them the way you wish you could, and the limits of working inside different systems.
So you can practice the medicine you trained for, help people heal, and come home with enough of you left for your own life and your own health.
-
Praised for the wins, scrutinized for the failures, and every hard call lands on you.
At EleVolve, this is the one place you don’t have to have the answer.
So you can make decisions from calm, clarity, and confidence, lead from steadiness instead of adrenaline, and stop being the only person in the room with nowhere to put it down.
-
You love what you built and you’re good at it, and there’s nobody to tell you when to stop.
At EleVolve, we work on the line between you and the business, so your sense of safety isn’t tied to this month’s numbers, your worth isn’t built on how successful the business is, and rest can happen before you hit your bottom line.
So you can keep building what you love, enjoy every moment of it, and celebrate your wins before you call it quits.
-
Your name is on everything, the criticism is public, and there’s no clocking out of the judgment.
At EleVolve, everything is completely confidential, so this is the one place you can set down the version of you that has to perform to feel safe and celebrated, and talk about what it’s like to be known by people who don’t know you.
So you can feel like yourself again, trust what’s real, and own your life instead of your image owning you.

Questions About Burnout Therapy
-
When you're tired, you can recover with sleep. Burnout doesn't bounce back the same way, because the conditions that created your exhaustion are still waiting for you when you get back. So if you've taken time off and come back feeling about the same, that's telling us there may be some burnout.
-
Burnout isn't a clinical diagnosis. The World Health Organization classifies it as an occupational phenomenon in the ICD-11. In practical terms, it won't show up on insurance paperwork, but it's real, it's well documented, and it's treatable.
-
They overlap, and they aren't the same. Burnout traces back to chronic stress in a role or an environment, and it tends to shift when those conditions shift. Depression is a clinical diagnosis with a broader picture that doesn't always resolve when circumstances change. They can happen together, which is one more reason a real assessment beats a self-diagnosis.
-
Because the load was still there when you got home. If nothing changed about what's waiting for you, you paused, and pausing isn't recovery. This isn't a willpower problem.
-
That dread is information. It usually shows up when something about the week ahead is out of step with what you need, whether that's the pace, the people, or the work itself. We look at what your body is flagging on Sunday and what it wants you to do about it.
-
Then we name it instead of asking you to adjust to something that isn't workable. Both things can be true. The environment can be the problem, and you can still have real choices inside it. Our work is figuring out where those choices are and what you want to do with them.
-
No. I'm not going to ask you to settle. Your ambition isn't the problem, and the work is about where your energy goes, not how much of it you're allowed to have.
-
For most people, yes. What needs to change is often what you're carrying that was never yours, what you make it mean when you set a limit, and where your values and your environment have stopped matching. None of that requires you to leave.
-
It depends on how long this has been building. Some clients notice a real shift within two to three months. Others are working on patterns that took years to form. We'll give you an honest read as we go rather than a set timeline.
-
We get a full picture of what's been going on, how long it's been showing up, and how it's been impacting your life. We ask a lot of questions, set goals together, and lay out a plan. Sessions are 50 minutes.
-
We recommend starting weekly to build a real relationship. It's hard to build something with someone you only see once a month. After about six sessions we reassess whether it makes sense to move to every other week.
-
Yes. Telehealth sessions are available for women in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Florida. Many clients prefer Telehealth for the flexibility and the privacy, and it works as well as meeting in person.
-
Research suggests women report burnout at higher rates, in part because of the invisible load many carry outside of work, and in part because ambitious women are held to a standard that asks for delivery and likability at the same time. It's worth pointing out, and this practice is built for women navigating it.
-
Yes. Attorneys with billable hours, a partner track, and clients who email at eleven at night and expect an answer by morning. Women in finance with an early start, a market that doesn’t wait, and a job that means thinking ten steps ahead for everyone else. Physicians charting long after the last patient, inside a health care system that isn’t built for healing anymore. Women executives who are praised for the wins, scrutinized for the failures, and carry every hard call. Entrepreneurs who love what they built and have nobody to tell them when to stop. Public figures and creators whose name is the brand and whose criticism is public. The work accounts for the realities of your field rather than asking you to pretend they aren’t there.
-
It depends on what's underneath it. We use CBT for the thought patterns underneath it, DBT for nervous system regulation and the skills that hold up under pressure, mindfulness and somatic work for what chronic stress does to your body, and organizational and executive functioning strategies when the load itself needs a system.
-
That's a good question to bring to a consultation. If anxiety, depression or trauma are part of the picture, a licensed therapist is the right level of support. A free 20-minute consultation is where we sort that out together.
-
Sometimes that happens, and there are a few reasons why. It might not have been the right fit with that therapist. It might not have been an approach that works for how you process. Or it was the timing, and you had other things you needed to focus on first.
